How do I get paid when I sell my music files in my "Enhanced Parlor" page? |
| A. |
This obviosly is the 'big' question, so we thought we would answer this one first...
The administration page for your "Enhanced Parlor" includes the ability for you to enter your own PayPal® personal or business email address in order for you to sell your music files at SonicParlor.com. When a buyer purchases one or more of your music files the music files purchased are made available to the buyer immediately after PayPal® has confirmed an instant transfer of payment from the buyer's PayPal® account to your PayPal® account or when PayPal® has confirmed the request for a PayPal® 'eCheck' payment from the buyer's PayPal® account to your PayPal® account.
The PayPal® confirmation process is performed automatically and is completely processed by SonicParlor.com.
Please be advised, PayPal® 'eCheck' payments usually take about 3-5 days for you to receive the money.
If you do not want to accept PayPal® 'eCheck' payments and only allow instant transfer of payments then follow the guidelines at PayPal® to convert your account (if you have not done so already) to a 'Business' account which provides you the ability to block PayPal® 'eChecks' in your 'Payment Receiving Preferences' section found within your PayPal® account 'Profile' options.
Since you have a revenue share agreement with SonicParlor.com of 10%, we will add to what you owe us 10% of each sale that you make. So if you make a sale of $20.00 (USD), we will record that you owe us $2.00 (USD). Then if you make another sale of $3.00 (USD), then your total of what you owe us will increase to $2.30 (USD).
SonicParlor.com gets paid whenever a sale is equal to or less then the amount that you own us. For example, if you currently owe us $2.30 (USD) and you make a sale of $2.00 (USD), then we will have the payment of the sale go to our PayPal® address instead of your PayPal® address. We will then reduce what you owe us by the amount of the sale. So, in this example what you owe us would drop to $0.30 (USD).
And, to keep the revenue percentage down to only 10% we also charge a small amount for the bandwidth you consume. You will be charged $0.10 (USD) for every 200 'plays' from your parlor page. A 'play' is whenever a fan comes to your parlor page and selects to listen to one of your songs and that song is loaded from SonicParlor.com.
* Tip: If you wish to be cost conscious, just simply turn off 'No-Cache' mode in your Enhanced Parlor administration area. Files that come from the user’s cache will not add to your 'play' count becuase they are being delivered by ther user's browswer cache instead of by SonicParlor.com. However, this will allow your songs to be available to the user in their browser's cache. Remember, if the user empties their broswer cache the next time that user plays one of your songs the song will deliver from SonicParlor.com thus adding to your 'play' count. Furthermore, if the user turns off their browser cache or sets their browser cache to '0' MB's each time that user plays one of your songs the song will deliver from SonicParlor.com thus adding to your 'play' count.
* Tip: To be further cost conscious, you can also turn off 'Auto Start Mode' as well as 'Auto Advance Mode' mode in your Enhanced Parlor administration area. These settings could help to reduce your overall play count.
Whenever your 'play' count reaches and increment of 200 we will add $0.10 (USD) to what you owe us for 'plays'. There is a maximum of $0.50 (USD) of what we will charge you for 'plays' per sale. For instance, if you currenlty owe us for 2000 plays (which would be $1.00) and you currenlty owe us $2.30 (USD) for revenue share then we would only take the next sale if it was equal to or less than $2.80 (USD) ($0.50 max charge for 'plays' per transaction and $2.30 for reveunue share). So, if you make a sale of $2.00 (USD) we will have the payment of the sale go to our PayPal® address instead of your PayPal® address. $0.50 (USD) will be credited first to your 'play' (1000 plays) count and then the remaining $1.50 (USD) will be credited to what you owe for revenue share. So, in this example what you owe us for 'plays' would drop to $0.50 (USD) (still owing for 1000 'plays') and what you owe us for revenue share would drop to $0.80 (USD).
Or, if you have purchased any 'Free Download Credits' in your Enhanced Parlor administration area we will simply deduct 1 credit from your paid 'Free Download Credits' for every 100 'plays' your fans consume without adding to what you owe us for 'plays'. Every time we deduct 1 credit from your paid 'Free Download Credits' we will also deduct 100 'plays' from your accumulated 'play' count.
This method is a little more complicated then elsewhere online, but we stronly feel that in the long run you benefit from our lower revenue share pecentage of only 10% and then paying a small bandwidth fee for the 'plays' that your fans consume.
